The Blogger Dilemma

As a blogger, you face this dilemma at one point or another: to blog or not to blog. There are countless people who would criticize you for what you write. It can be intimidating. Because putting yourself out there in front of the whole world is easier said than done.

For one thing, writing about stuffs means exposing your lack of knowledge. Yes, you ain’t know everything (and neither do they!). Why do you even think about writing it out? Well, so what? Do tons of research. Read tons of stuffs. Post tons of entries. And eventually you’ll get to the point of knowing something. One step at a time.

And? You should like those who disagree with your points, and counterattack the arguments. But completely IGNORE those who tell you to shut up. IIMHO such people miss the whole point of blogging, or any other kinds of Web 2.0 thingy. It’s all about freedom of speech. It’s about expressing yourself. I think it’s funny how people think they have the rights to deprive you of your own rights. Write up, write more. Obsess them with your writing.

Keep posting. Ignore everyone else. Have fun, FTW!

  1. I know what you mean Hung. I get normally get complaints from Expats and Westerners but praises from everyone else. Many times people complain because they are very insecure about themselves. Notice that the same people that complain to you also complain to other bloggers.

Yeah, they think they know everything but in the end, they are criticizing you because they may have realized that your facts were right, theirs were wrong. They just can’t admit it.

Well said “such people miss the whole point of blogging, or any other kinds of Web 2.0 thingy”! I personally see web 2.0 as a platform for all participants all different perspectives and viewpoints to express themselves. By seeing what each individual has to contribute with his limited knowledge, we get a bigger and better picture of what opinions are out there and how they contribute to our holistic understand of an issue. :)
